Pumpkin Patch!

We went to the pumpkin patch this past weekend! My question is, what ever happened to REAL pumpkin patches and going to an actual farm?? One without a bounce house, blow up slide and a barrel of perfect pumpkins to choose from? I searched and searched to find an ACTUAL pumpkin patch to go to... this one was great! It was completely free, you just had to pay for your pumpkin! We took a tractor hay ride out into the patch and got to pick our pumpkins right off the vines!

We asked Alex if he wanted to help us find the "perfect, BIG pumpkin" to carve... he said, "no mommy, I want the LITTLEST pumpkin!" as if we were sooo crazy to say we should get a big, carving pumpkin. I immediately remembered one of the Halloween books that we've been reading (The Littlest Pumpkin) and knew why he said that. The book is all about this little pumpkin that wants more than anything for someone to choose him and carve him for Halloween. Everyone who comes looking for a pumpkin thinks he's too little and chooses a different one On Halloween they close the pumpkin stand and the little pumpkin is so sad. The mice end up using the pumpkin at their Halloween party and, of course, the book turns out happy. It was so cute though to watch Alex try to pick out a little pumpkin for Halloween!
